I’m always struck by the music and the scripts in these Eisenhower era reels. Everything in the future is new, bright, and better than the past. I grew up as a kid watching all manner of these things and it was easy to get caught up on the sense that everything was awesome and would only get better.
Sigh, then Vietnam, Watergate, race riots, and, well… we snapped out of our fever dreams. But it’s still fun to remember when it all looked so bright ahead.
